Fire

Fire, or Dispersion, is the term used for the colour flashes caused by the spreading and separating of white light into its spectral colours as it exits the diamond through the crown facets.

The quality of Fire depends primarily on the crown angle. With a shallow crown angle, there is less fire. With a steep crown angle, light is dispersed, but it is forced off to the side and the visual effect is mostly lost.
